i heard about it in school and wanna know what it is. I know it's somethin about goths and being sad all the time.

emo is short for emotional
example: me.
okay... dark clothes, dark make up, funky or black hair colours.
emotional. the guys will usually wear tight pants and shirts. girls wear either tight pants and shirts, or kinda baggy clothes.
google it or something if you really want. it'll probably be there somewhere

Emo = Emo-tional. In music terms, it's just music that makes you feel a lot of highs and lows. Usually it's that music that used to be alternative but gone dark.
Some people say it's the new 'goth' but that could never be. Trust me; it's an entirely diff. subculture.
I"m not entirely sure, but I think Fugazi was one of the first emo bands around. Definitely Bright Eyes.

Emo stands for emotional. Some people consider Taking Back Sunday and Finch emo. By the way, they're not gothic.
