You must be kidding, the unemployment was much lower during the Clinton administration. If by safe you mean engaged in a armed conflict in Iraq with whoever we are after now that Saddam has been executed. I think he was the fictitious reason we invaded in the first place. No more attacks, isn't the hard to explain when it's very likely your boy GW may have orchestrated the whole thing on 9/11. After the attacks that day, most planes were grounded, except the one carrying the Bin Laden clan out of the country. Like to explain that?

Look, I think Bush has done a great job with the economy, given he inherited the dot.com bubble bursting and then was hit with 9/11, but your facts are just incorrect.
The lowest unemployment rate was during the dot.com bubble in 2000. It was then 3.9% compared to today's 4.6%.
Also, while the Dow is flirting with record highs, both the Nasdaq and S&P 500 are nowhere near the record highs, which again were in 2000. The Nasdaq is still less than 1/2 what it was in 2000.
Technically, Bush did not keep us safe, as 3,000 dead on 9/11 will demonstrate. I'm not blaming Bush for 9/11, as the seeds were planted well before he became president. Yes, I think he's done a good job since, though much harm will be done if we don't accomplish our mission in Iraq, and soon.

WASHINGTON - People are saving at the lowest level since the Great Depression,In fact, the Commerce Department reported Thursday that the nation’s personal savings rate for all of 2006 was a negative 1 percent, the worst showing in 73 years.
The negative rate means people are spending all of the money they have left after paying taxes — and then some. They are dipping into savings or increasing their borrowing to finance current spending.
The 1 percent negative savings rate in 2006 followed a 0.4 percent negative rate in 2005. There have been only four years in history that the savings rate has fallen into negative territory. The other two were 1932 and 1933 during the Great Depression.
When they say great economy, they mean people are spending lots-unfortuately more than they make.

I do give him credit. He has kept us safe...yet gets blamed for coming into office at the wrong time. If Clinton had a little more interest in the terroristic threats and indications he had LONG known about...9/11 would have never happened. Instead he turned a little cigar-lovin' trist into a national state of oval-office porn. And here we are...trying to clean up the mess his administration left behind while he was busy playing pocket pool with his interns.

Nice try, but I'm afraid you're going to get thrown under the bus by the liberals for this question.
Face it, if Bush's policies united the world in peace and harmony, Iraq became our 51st state, all hunger and disease was eradicated and all nations destroyed their nuclear weapons' stockpiles - the liberals would bash Bush for not supporting animal rights groups, causing global warming and not supporting gay marriage!

The stock market is not a sufficient indicator for the economic well being of the average American, and whether or not he has really kept us safe is a matter of perspective.
