First of all, laptops aren't the best for major gaming due to their limited upgrade potential (& the cost related to them). If you're going to do any major gaming, it's best to do it on a desktop or buy a great high-end computer that surpasses all suggested requirements for the games you're planning to play. Please keep this in mind while I answer your question.

Add RAM your computer WILL IMPROVE your system's performance, but it's only going to be about a 5% improvement (15% at the most). While this would be helpful for less graphic-intense games (like those played on MAME), this won't really do much for 3D games World of Warcraft as it primarily uses Video-RAM that's on your video card. The one downside is that your system will run warmer when you add RAM & for laptops... that can be a major (& potentially painful) problem as you'll increase the chance of burning yourself from heat generated on the underside of your laptop & increase the chance of overheating, which would hurt the performance a lot more.

Upgrading your video card will greatly improve your the performance of graphic intensive games, like the ones you've stated, as they extra video-RAM will be used to help render the graphics & will help free up the system's RAM for other programs as needed. HOWEVER, most graphics cards in laptops are INTEGRATED into the system's motherboard to help make them portable & therefore cannot be upgraded without major system surgery... making this upgrade highly impractical for laptops.

If you want to have better performance in your games, you're most likely better off to get a new laptop designed for gaming. However, if you're still dedicated to the system you have, all you can really do is ram more RAM into your laptop & invest in a Laptop Chill Mat ($35, see sources below for link) to help you & your computer to stay cool.

Greetings. My name's Sanjay Patel, and I currently hold an honorary Master's degree in the field of Computer Science. I am aware of, and have personal knowledge related to your question. There are computer maintenance businesses which are probably in your area, however they come at the cost of hiring a professional to enter your home. There may also be some local destinations where you can drop off your computer and wait to have a technician look at it. These options can often be costly, and pretty inconvenient. The answer to this question can probably be found doing a little extra research on Google.

A well-running computer can be a hard thing to maintain. From my experience, there is but only One software which is reputable- and consistently reliable for healing sick, slow computers. Reimage™ is a world-renown, easy to use software designed by Forensic scientists and made for the average person. This thing will fix literally just about ANY problem you could possibly be having with your PC. Reimage was recommended to me by a Professor during my 2nd year of Graduate school.

Yes, just like a PC, it works the same. Everytime you open a program it uses the required amount of RAM while running. If you have multiple programs open or a single program that requires a significant amount of RAM to run, then you'll experience slowdown issues.

Think of it like this. If you go to a club where the max occupancy is 500 people and there's 475 in there already, then it's going to be a slow, and painstaking process trying to get the the bar counter and order your drink.

Hope that helps.

Adding RAM is always a good thing. In most cases it will make all applications run smoother and faster.

For a gaming desktop, you would need a graphics card of course. Gaming really requires a graphics card otherwise your computer is not a gaming computer. Its laggy because your computer doesn't have a graphics card and its using on-board which deals with games VERY VERY poorly. So you should get a decent one because graphics card is a crucial factor when it comes to gaming. Oh and if you get one make sure your motherboard has the slot required (e.g. PCI-E X16) and that your power supply unit meets the minimum watts required and the power supply must have 6-pin or 8-pin or even both required to power the graphics card. Although some don't need 6-pin pci-e or 8-pin pci-e power connectors if they are not that powerful. If you can provide more information, or have any more questions, please email me via. my profile. Yes when I played DAOC and went into the capital city it lagged bad. I added a gig of ram and there was no lag after that. Also I already had a good video card and cpu that is also a must have for lag free gameing

That really depends. Generally more RAM will make your games run faster. But if your CPU is maxed out then more RAM won't do any good. to check this hit and watch the performance meter. if your CPU is running at 100% when you open stuff or when stuff is running then more RAM won't help you. If your page file is high and your CPU low then more RAM will help.

It will, but not as much as a better processor or a better video card. 1GB Ram should be enough RAM for any game, unless you use Vista, then I would recommend 2GB. A dual-core proccesor would also greatly help...
