Remember that today's top choices for names may sound really stupid in 10 or 20 years. I'm sorry, but I don't like any of the names you've picked because they're all too 'cutesy' or have the serious potential for causing grief to your child.

For example:

CJ - it's not a name, it's initials...how do you think your son would feel not having a name...do you think other boys would pick on him? Give him two names that start with C and J (Charles and James for example) and you can nickname him CJ.

Lee - it's a pair of jeans...also can be a girls name...much potential for abuse

Nick - it's a cut on your finger...also, what rhymes with Nick? D...? P....? If you want to nick-name him...just use the full Nicholas although that has a slight potential for teasing at Christmas time.

Cheyenne - wayyyyyyyy overused...I can't count the number of Shyanne's Cheyenne's Shayenne's...etc. that I've seen recently from friends/coworkers/acquaintances. At least she probably won't be teased that much.

Colby - it's a cheese from Wisconsin...yummm

Kyra - reminds me of an older actress, Kyra Sedgewick...not too bad

Kyrs - no idea on this one...probably will get teased and will constantly have to spell out her name when she's an adult and wants to open an account or get a phone or whatever.

Lorra - unusual spelling for a common name...also will constantly have to correct people

Kina - reminds me of Keno, the numbers game people play in Casinos...prepare for tears on the playground.

Seriously...I agree with you that naming a child is important and special, that's why I don't think that picking names based on how cool they sound is right. When I named my son, we went through a lot of things but settled on a variation/combination of her Dad's name and my Dad's name for first and middle names...we had girls names picked out also that were from my Mother and her Mother also. If neither of you likes your parents, how about a grandparent or somebody you admire or a name that actually means something, instead of a fake, made-up name.

I have three daughters and named them all unique names. I think when you are picking a unique name it should have meaning. I named my daughters Titania-Queen of Fairies and Leandra-Like a Lioness in Scottish. I don't think there is anything unique about CJ, Lee, or Nick. If I had a boy I would have named him Tobin-I don't know what it means but I like it and it would have given me the opportunity to call him Toby (I love that name). Cheyenne is pretty, Colby sounds to much like a boys name. Kyra is pretty, Kyrs and Kina don't make any sense unless they mean something. And if you are going to name her Lorra you might as well spell it Laura otherwise people will always mispell her name.

CJ would have to be initials for something - Charles Joseph? Nick is a nice name. Kyra and Cheyenne are both beautiful names, too.

the boys names are horrible. i do like the girls names cheyenne, kyra kina. kinaa would b better 4 a boy so would kyrs just spell it different in a more masculine way. lee is boring nick rhymes with dick and i dont like it. cj reminds me of bj u know so think of a better name. sorry just being honest.

Out of the girls names, I like Kyra (pronounced Kee-ra of Ky-ra) It is unique, short, and sweet. You don't come across it too often, and it's easy to tell that it's a girl's name. You won't get tongue tied and it rolls easily off of your tongue. As for boys names, I prefer the name Nick. It's a good, strong name for a boy, but it isn't a name that is too common. Just make sure that the names correspond with the last names and that the initials aren't something they could get teased for.

personally, i would change Nick to Nico-pronounced 'neek-o'. It is very unique and i think it is an adorable name for a little boy.

For a girl- i would pic Kyra or Kina.
