You could but shouldn't! It will be hard to keep control of him as he will fight the bath. There is a very good chance that he could accidentally inhale some water and drown. There's no reason to take that risk. If he happens to have gotten dirty from something then use a wet cloth to clean him up. If you feel you need to add some soap or shampoo to the cloth then use a tiny dab of baby shampoo that won't hurt him if it gets in his eyes.
If his fur is looking a little clumpy or greasy, there's a trick we show breeders use. We take a very small amount of baby powder and rub it into their fur. Then you can use a baby brush to smooth his coat out. If he is longhaired and has any mats then carefully cut them out.

Why do you want to give him a bath??
Like someone else said, hamsters do a good job of cleaning themselves - if his fur is very dirty (with poo, for example) it probably means he's sick and you should take him to the vet right away. Soiled fur, especially on the tail area, often means wet tail, which is a very serious infection, and needs medicine.
Bathing is tricky and not a good idea because hamsters are extremely susceptible to catching a chill (because they're small) and then getting sick. Plus they would be very stressed out by the whole washing process, and could accidentally swallow water or soap.

You can give your hamster a bath with warm water with a small drop of dawn dish detergent...As long as you keep the water out of the hamsters face,AND your hamster has been hand held so not to bite..

You can buy a foam waterless bath at most pet stores, it comes in a can similar to mousse. I always used it on mine, they tend to get really stressed it water.

no, they give themselves baths, don't even try it unless they have been badly soiled, then take it to the vet.
