well they can live up to 10 years or so....depending on the type...there are many types of freshwater saltwater and brackish ones...i have a freshwater figure eight and have had it for 5+yrs or so...and no problems!! i love him he is my fav. fish i have....too cute=)

pufferfish can live to be up to 15 years old! In a brackish tank that is. They say you should raise them in freshwater til they are about two years old and then switch them to a brackish tank. Without the brackish tank they wont live more than 4 years.
