my mother always told me that in order to find a good partner, watch how they treat thier mother because it is the way you'll be treated. i know she was right because i ended up with they guy that has no respect for his mother.... i guess it is important to meet the guys parents BEFORE getting in too deep!

Wow there are several pieces of advice I got..
1) Love is a Process not a Destination
2) Love (being in love) Does NOT pay the bills
3)Drive the car like I am sitting in the passenger seat (my dad would always say that to me to Remind me of this as a Teenager with a new drivers license ) so I would not Speed and stuff and to obey the laws of the road
4)The Fish wouldn't get caught if he Didn't open his mouth ( don't rat on people basically and mind your own business)
5) You should Always tell the truth ..So you don't have to Remember what you said

As I was foolishly explaining to my godmother how ugly people exist to date other people and I found physical attractiveness to be the most important feature of a female, my dad strolled past me and sung the words "When you find a hole, quit digging". He knew that no matter what point I was trying to make, I would never get out of the hole that I had put myself in. The more I talked, the worse it got.
Luckily I've grown up and matured since then, but I've learned that my dad gave me the best advice I've ever heard.

Not only will I pass it on to my children when I am so blessed, but I pass it along to my friends and my students at school.

My dear departred father gave me some good advice which i have passed on to my boy Firstly as a young lad he said 1:if you are chatting a bird always take her phone number then you are in charge 2 If you are not in bed by 11pm dump her and get back to the club you still have time to pull.3 Best of all, always make sure she has a place to go to ,then you dont have to wash the sheets in the morning.
Also when he got older he said when you get to my age three things you should always do ,1,Never trust a fart, 2,;If you need to pee do it, £; and the best of all if you are lucky enough to get an erection USE IT.

Just be honest and love each other.

My parents used to drill into us - no matter what you do, or what you say, be honest within the family, that way we can be prepared for whatever comes along.
The amount of time me, my brothers and sisters were grateful for that piece of advise is innumerous.
My Dad was my best friend, even from the age of about 5, if anyone would ask, like other girls at school etc., I would always say my Dad, tres odd!
It is now only later on that I really realise he (especially), my mother and my siblings ARE my best friends and that is the one thing I want to pass on to my kids. Be honest and love each other. :)x

with divorce rates as high as they are my grandmother saw fit to impress upon me how important a marriage is. She married my grandfather when she was 15, he was 17. They were married for 45 years, until he passed away.

She told me that marriage is not aways fun. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it. She told me to never go to bed mad at my huband. She told me to let him know when and how he had hurt my feelings or upset me. My husband and I will be celebrating 5 years in March. It's been a road with a few bumps and maybe a couple potholes, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Um my mother always told me that I was capable of being or doing anything I dreamed of. Cheezy I know...but we are from a small town in which a small percentage ever leaves. I was able to move and go to a great college to get a degree in art history and archeaology (Which everyone said I couldn't do) It was all because of her support and advice. My dad always told me not to get knocked up until I was old enough and mature enough... I never did that so I guess I listened. (He really wasn't one for words)

I have already passed onto my daughters the advice my father gave to my sisters.

Any woman who marries a poor man deserves everything she doesn't get. You are all sitting on a fortune.

He was a great man. He died in 1988 and I still miss him. 96...shot by a jealous husband..........

Respond to people based on how they treat you, not what they look like and yes I have passed that on to my children.
