b. oceanic side of the aleutian trench

The ocean ridges are where new basalt is being extruded. This pushes the current floor along like a conveyor belt before it gets subducted back into the earth at an ocean trench. Its not next to the Hawaiian Islands either as they are in the middle of a plate, not the edge.
