The mingled fragrances of woods trees and plants on a summer day.
Not having a father or mother, when I was young I spent all my free time roaming the woods. Life was harsh with chores and responsablitys and respect came from how hard you worked but love was unspoken and thereby unknown.
Heck even today my wife says I get lost when I am in woods even though others are around me and I admit I do.
When I smell the fragrances I revert in my mind to a time of no infrimitys to slow my movement, sight or hearing, life was an ever opening of the senses into a wonderfull world of new trees, bushes, grasses, borne by the smell of the heat, of plants and the smel of a flower after a butterfly perfumed its wings by it , at peace with a oneness, a love.
By the add on and all the answers above it seems the memorys were also a place of love.
Thank you for bringing that memory back for me with your question.

I would have to say firewood burning. My Grandparents had a wood burning stove and I loved to watch the embers. The smell left the house smelling wonderful. I even got the opportunity to put a few logs in the fire. It was really cool.

The smell of Lily of the Valley flowers remind me of my mother's flower garden when I was in grade school. Her flower garden was small but was full of so many beautiful smelling flowers. I loved the scent of the Lily of the Valley, best. It was so sweet but not overpowering.

Vanilla...my favorite doll had a vanilla smell. (Not sure why) I also had a ball that smelled like that, but the doll was special to me :). Now, when I smell vanilla, it brings me back to that doll.
