Before you do anything, check to see what the voltage rating on the toaster is. If it has a non-US plug, it is probably designed to use 220V like European systems, and it won't operate properly on 110V.
Power converters won't make that change for you. .
If it is a 110V 60 Hz device, you can change the plug and it will be fine.

Does it have two round prongs coming out of the plug? If so it's designed for 220Volt operation which is common ion Europe and parts of Asia. The voltage in the US is 110. Even if you change the plug it won't work properly. Basically what you did was buy something that's really reaalllly cool looking but a worthless piece of s---.

It is not that hard to cut off the cord end and replace it. Web search this for instructions. Try "ask this old house" . The part is about 60 cents.

You can re-wire about anything....just make sure that the wiring that use can hold up to the watts your toaster is feeding.
good luck

You should be able to buy an adapter that will fit both your plug and outlet.
