Ok, losing brain cells from drinking is only caused by someone drinking too much, and it takes far longer than 4 minutes. When you suffocate yourself and faint or whatever, then you are killing brain cells almost as fast as from say, 30 minutes of drinking, because anything that isn't anaerobic will die without oxygen. People just talk about killing brain cells when they do "the choking game," but they are killing a lot of other thinks also. You weaken yourself, because your normal cells aren't being replenished with oxygen continually by then. If you wait too long, then you pass out, presumably to save oxygen, I'm not sure. But if you are choking yourself with a rope or something, then your DEAD if somebody isn't in the room with you. We listened to a police call from some kid who's brother had done it. The stupid police lady couldn't understand half of what he was saying, though we understood him QUITE clearly... Anyway, the kid's brother died because he had passed out before he could undo the rope, and so his organs, cells, brain, etc. ALL went without oxygen until they couldn't function anymore. So, ya, I've never done anything to kill brain cells except hold my breath underwater for 75 seconds.. lol, anyway, even a small amount of time choking yourself will kill several brain cells, and if you are stupid enough to do it once then you will probably do it again. BRAIN CELLS DO NOT REGENERATE! Just remember that. They are one of the only kinds of cells that I know of that aren't in perpetual reproduction. Why would you want to suffocate yourself anyway? Ridiculous.. Have you ever been shoved underwater and held down? I have. It's unpleasant, because you know that you are going to die if you don't get up, and it's the same if you are about to pass out, you can't resurface unless somebody pulls you out. (Rescucitates or however you spell it.) Anyway, please don't even think about doing it? 5 seconds of aSphyxiation is a whole lot shorter than however long you are going to be suffocating yourself if you play the choking game, it takes about 10 seconds to get the blood rush, and probably some people hold it longer, intentionally or not. Anyway, I've rambled long enough...

Because the choking game leads to death in a higher percentage of cases. Simple as that.

It's like if I asked you:

Would you rather walk over a pool of hungry alligators on a sagging tightrope, a skinny balance beam, or a suspended bridge with a safety net? The choking game is the sagging tightrope, alcohol is the skinny balance beam and anesthesia is the suspended bridge. Which would you choose?

Why take a chance? You must be wondering the same thing or you would not be asking this question, and its a good one. Question this, what caused your friends death, what were you doing etc.?At least drinking you may be able to prevent that person from drinking too much, driving etc, 5 secs of asphyxiation you could have someones death on your hands. I hope you think about the consequence before you get in voled in something like this again. You don't have to, walk away. I hope you do the right thing.

The line between asphyxiation and ceasing to live is very thin. Why risk it? People who play the choking game alone can lose control and not be able to relieve the choke hold. That is how accidental deaths occur.

that is easy... you have two essential functions in your body... breathing and heart rate. if one stops the other does as well relatively soon... so if you stop breathing you loose your pulse... i kno that holding your breath is ceasing to breath but your body automatically begins breathing on its own when you kick into "survival mode" it is very easy to overdo it playing that game...that is like a few years back mostly college students played games that involved placing a plastic bag over their heads and huffing gasoline... it was only a game to them but several dozen died. so you as a boyscout should know the dangers of playing death at its own game, cause ur taught against it... so i dont advise you play "the chocking game" unless you are ready and willing to die, and atleast with beer you can revive someone that has had even alcahol poisoning as long as you get them to a hospital soon enough

we did this in high school however i WOULD NOT recomend it! We did it once and my friends said I had something like a seizure where i twitched all over an dthen woke up. But after that a few years down the road I started to have fainting spells... dont know if thats related but definately NOT a good idea. and if your brain goes 4 mins without oxygen you are brain dead.

Someone at my school died because of that, straight up. They thought it was fun and played it all the time, and one day he was choked the wrong way collapsed something and couldn't breathe and died.

Think about that.

It's the same thing with hanging while mastrubating. One of my best friends sisters lost her fiance to that. It is all just stupid and dangerous.

Why play those games. There is a high chance you can die. Those 5 seconds when you dont have oxygen can make your lungs stop, your brain stop and then you die. why mess with life over a stupid little game.

When I am bored witless and it is too hot to go out I enjoy it. Otherwise I find my complete inability to to think of the right responses overwhelming!
