The Houston Rockets. Tracy McGrady has stepped it up to an extremely high level by carrying his team to 13-6 since Yao went down. Remember, he started the season averaging only 15 points per and now he is up to 23.7.
Desipite Yao's injury and T-Mac's occassional back spasms, Houston has a very good record. T-Mac has never been past the 1st round in the playoffs in his career, so he has something to be hungry for.

My definition of an underrated team is one that receives little fanfare (at least on a national level), and also has a winning record. I'm not sure how many people would have picked Toronto, Washington, and Utah to be the leaders in their divisions at the beginning of the season (most of the experts had New Jersey, Miami, and Denver running away with those divisions). Toronto is still just barely hovering around the .500 mark, and I still think the Nets will win that division. If they do, the Raptors might fall out of the playoff race altogether. The Wizards, and Jazz, are locks to make the playoffs even with there most recent injuries (to Jamison, and Boozer). It's a tough call as to who is more underrated between the two, but since Arenas is drawing so much national attention for his exciting play on an individual level, and the fact that Utah has the fifth best record in the whole league (ahead of everyone but Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston, whom coincidentally, they have a combined 6-3 record against), but has garnered little national attention, I'll go with the Jazz.

Yeah, the Raptors are 1st in the Atlantic Division, the weakest division in the league. The Raptors are underrated, yes, but I think the Golden State Warriors are truly underrated. Their hurry-up, up-tempo pace on the court gets them a lot of point. In fact, as hard as this is to believe, the Warriors lead the NBA in fast break points (that's right, above the Suns). Plus, the Warriors just got Al Harrinton and Stephen Jackson in their lineup. And they're holding out somewhat well right now. But, you have to remember, this is without their leading scorer last year, Jason Richardson. When he comes back, they're a playoff team that will sneak into that 8th spot.

Raptors by FAR. They are in first and have Chris Bosh. They are ahead of the Nets, but no one is saying anything about the Raptors in the playoffs. If the raptors stay like this, they might get a 4th or maybe even 3rd seed in the playoffs.

i dont really have apick for this one. but i will say the raptors are underated for a reason. thye are winning a division with aloosing record(although they are still winning) they lead the nets by 1/2 game. the nets have gone through many injuries and shouldnt even be up there but they are. they still have the 2nd half of the season to win the division before people will take toronto serious. and since they wont win the division, they still will be taken for granted.

I will have to agree with you. They played well enough will out their star player Chris Bosh to not get to far behind. Now that Chris is back the team looks to have new life and is playing pretty solid ball.

HOUSTON ROCKETS: though only third in their division, they won more games than all but 4 teams in the nba. this team will become a championship team in the next yr or so. With players as talented as Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, this team will revive its old glory days.
