This happens to me far too often. My dog, Fat Greasy Bear Elvis (named after my icon...brandon davis), always tries to get fresh with me while I am sleeping and somehow always manages to clip my tongue. The best thing to do is pull out the dog's tongue and bite it back. My dog hasn't learned yet but I'm sure it will. As for the bleeding just rinse yer mouth out with some luke warm soapy water. If it continues to bleed for more than 12.45 minutes then use a dab of super glue to close the wound.

Ice for the discomfort and swelling. I don't really think they do anything else, as long as you and your dog have had all your shots, that is. I know that a dog's mouth is considered cleaner than a humans so apply pressure and as long as it stops bleeding I think you'll be fine.

Wash your tongue and rinse out your mouth with mouthwash.
Put pressure on it to stop the bleeding. If your dog is sick, you will have to get rabies shots.
