People do this a lot in the workplace. I wonder how they feel about themselves when they are driving home from work. Do you think this erodes the innate goodness that most people possess?

Yep. Sure do. I believe that in order to keep yourself from being so dead to that little voice in your heart(hopefully God's voice) you have to be careful in what you say to people. There are some people that start off doing those LITTLE things that hurt their consience, and before they know it, they are saying and doing things they thought they would never do before they did that. That is why it is so important to keep and have dignity in how you present yourself to others, and most importantly yourself. No one wants to look in a mirror where they see a liar, cheat, or worse staring back at them. Whats lost in this world and generation is dignity, and a little self-respect. That is why you see and hear of bad things that are happening now at such an alarming rate. It may start off as something as innocent as talking about someone or paying someone back for what they did for you, but the more you pratice such things, the more they become a part of you. So, yes, your conscience is not only hurt, but becomes harden when you do things that arent right....

It's probably a form of relief for some. It probably doesn't hurt if you don't HAVE a conscience. I do feel badly after I've bad-mouthed someone.

Depends on the person I believe. Some people feel honestly horrible when they talk crap behind other's backs. Others just don't really think about it.

What people consider to be justifiable actions they will have no guilt for. However people who think very little will care less to investigate their own actions.
