When I ask him for further proof he just says it is from confidential sources. Further, it is a straight razor with a pearl handle, which is kind of feminim. And it is dull and rusty so it might be that old.

Not the real thing. Women didn't shave their legs until the invention of the safety razor in the early 20th century. It would be next to impossible to shave legs with a straight razor and would take a long time. I still use a safety (for my face). Marilyn used a double edged safety.

Yes, he absolutely could be lying about it. In fact, if he's telling the truth and can prove it, I suggest that he head over Ebay, sell it for a tidy sum, and quit playing mind games with you about it.
