Jerry Springer is still on the air, you don't have to miss him.

But the point of reality television shows is to give couch potatoes a wide variety of things to watch on the television.

I honestly thought that Big Brother was interesting because it was real humans doing real things. Well, its the same principle as going to a zoo, isnt it? Ive changed my mind after the latest fiasco, though. Channel 4 brought about that whole racist thing just to up their failing ratings. The psychologist who left after only ten days with the BB team is right. He said only one facet of a person's personality is shown by selective editing of that person's input. So Jo looked like she was moulded into that housecoat even tho' she changed every day. It was the way they showed her.
To answer your question: no, they are not pointless shows. They are sinister shows and let us know just how easily manipulated a whole population can be by what they view on tv. Scary stuff.

I stopped watching network TV in 1970 and haven't gone back. Today the Discovery, History, & Learning channels along with public TV, SciFi, Animal Planet, and the Travel Channel. No music, sports, commercial laden, slanted news, ethnic channels, pay movies, HBO or any of those other wastes of time. I buy movies and store them in carosoules for viewing when I want to see them and without commercials.

Most reality tv shows are just about bitchy girls getting into fights. The only reality tv show that I watch is "Project Runway" (on Bravo) because its an actual contest. There are some bitches on this show but there all gay guys. I love the way they talk! LOL!

People want entertainment. Something to take them away from their life for a while. Most TV shows are pointless as they are not true, or teach you anything you can use in life. But hey, I still love American Idol.

They are heavily managed by the Producers and the people in them are not going to act REAL infront of the Cameras all the time are they?

'reality TV' is as to life what WWF is to real fighting. Real lfe is much more visceral and abrasive. RTV is a paper moon in a painted sky.. all the scenes are synthetic and scripted.'Jade' is but a useful tool to manipulate the emotions of the masses.

yes, what about celebrity reality TV, or z-list former partners of poeple who were once famous.
or expop band members, former models. or various other so called stars we have never heard of.

And soon Channel4 will be bringing the normal big brother,
how long before we are subjected to celeb love island, or former models wanting sex. what ever it is called.

Bring back good TV.
