By interacting with those people that were closes to them in life. Looking through pictures, socializing, and sharing whats going on with them mentally can be good thing also. I dont know how true it is, but ive heard that there is medication out now that can aid you in regaining SOME memory, or atleast accelerate thinking in that area. All in all, i think that therapy, social therapy helps the most. Being around those that are closes to you can really bring back a flood of memories, if you are really consistent in exposing yourself to that everyday....

It depends on the type of amnesia. Usually a person regains memories through association. If the amnesia was from loss of consciousness though, the person won't likely ever remember the several minutes leading up to the event that caused the loss of consciousness. Princess Di's bodyguard is an example. It takes several minutes for memories to be shifted from short term holding to long term memory. If unconsciousness occurs before the transfer, the memories of those several minutes are completely lost.

Through the family members and friends who shared some of your memories with you. They can help you recapture those memories through photographs, and videos, and even stories.
