are you asking so you can tell it to kids? I always told mine the truth...? my parents had the book series.. what's happening to me... and where did I come from? two great books.. ok.. old and cheesy... lol.. but my four yr old knows the truth of where she came from... on a four yr old level (minus the baby words that describe privates)
I told them from day one... when a man and woman get married it is because they are best of friends and want to share their lives for always together.. and when they love each other a whole lot they decide to have babies so they can share that love with the baby.... it is a very special gift, and it a takes a mommy and daddy to make a baby cause they each have special parts... and then God helps them and makes it so the baby grows in the mommy's belly for almost the whole year and when her belly is real, real big and the baby says today is my birthday so the mommy and daddy either go to the hospital or if the baby is going to be born at home they make the bed and gets lots of extra blankets and sheets... the baby comes out of the mommy's "privates" and then the mommy and daddy have a little prince or princess that is from them to love and teach and help to grow up....
before that story when asked where do babies come from by a small child? I answer from heaven..God lends them to mommies so that the angels learn on earth and mommies learn about unconditional love....

depending on there age if they act older like some kids can do a would just stick with the stork one but also add that mummy and daddy have a certain cuddle that only mummy n daddy do which brings the stork or something like that but in ur own way for them 2 understand but if they anywhere older than 10 then just tell them most of the truth
good luck

Just tell them a seed from mommy gets a seed from daddy, and they grow from that. Little kids can't think abstractly enough to come up with further questions. If they ask about birth, tell them - if you communicate that you're freaked out by it, they'll be freaked out by it too, and you'd not be doing them a favor at all. Better just to say you don't know, than freak them out.

Say that when a Mommy and Daddy love each other alot, that love forms a beautiful baby.
When mommy ate a watermelon and swallowed the seed it formed a baby.

I agree 100% with redpeach_mi. If you're not their parent, don't even go there - tell them to ask mommy or daddy. If you are, then tell the truth boiled down to a level of understanding appropriate for their age.

The daddy kisses the mommy, and the angel tells the stork who lays a dimond in the cabbage patch, and the dimond turns into a baby!

the mom has eggs that grow into a baby in a special place in the mommy's tummy. the baby is connected to the mom from the belly button.
then i told my kids they came out of the belly button too. i didnt want to scare them with the other parts. my 10yo still doesnt know what a vagina is.

Don't lie to children. You can give them a truthful answer without being explicit.
Keeping children ignorant is a good way to end up with a pregnant 12 year old.

I would stick with the "Stork" until they are old enough to go through sexual education.
