The street can symbolise any direction you have taken, or are thinking of taking. What happens in your dream illustrates you drop in confidence, or your feelings of falling from power, grace, love. Maybe you have lost certainty, and so get the sinking feeling of the fall. It could even suggest falling in love, or the fear of not being in control.

Dreams can be for entertainment, DMT kicking in, or your brain trying to work out your daily encounters. What I find fascinating in your dream is the fact that you are aware that you might trip, and you are telling yourself 'don't' yet you do.

Analyze your life as far as decisions that you are needing to make, and realize the possible outcomes with each decided answer, and choose the one that has long term positive effects.

Go within yourself, and stop the self doubt that you have with your solution to your problem that you may be facing. Or if you find that you are not getting the results with your solution, walk a differant path.

Walking or ice skating to me, reflects the speed of the upcoming decision making is needed.

The fact that you are walking down the street and not being pushed by another, indicates to me that you are still in control of the events surrounding your life.

One thing about dreams that has already been mentioned is the interpretation of the symbols that are shown is personal. Questions to always ask yourself, when trying to understand a dream scene, is how did the symbols make me feel emotionally, and spiritually. If walking is something that you love, it would take on a differant meaning, then say, someone that hates walking anywhere, or to one that is paralized and cannot walk.

Keeping a journal if the dreams reoccur is helpful. Another thing I must mention is the surrounding details may help you narrow the answers down. The street is it in on a country setting? city? is it blacktop? dirt? All these details may help in your analysis.

The physical 'jolts' is your unconscious mind meeting your conscious awake state.

I wish you success in being able to understand what is being shown, and hope that I have given you information that you will be able to utilize, not just for this dream, but many more to come.

I've spent years studying my own dreams. I can honestly say that more often than not a dream does not equal real life. What a dream can help you with is understand why... focuses on certain people in certain situations, blah blah blah...

When I was young I had constant dreams that involved falling. To this day I'm not exactly sure, other than an internal fear of heights. So, to combat that I took steps to conquer it, and its still a works in progress.

The jolt your body feels is totally natural. You actually have a moderate jolt as you fall asleep as well.

I have heard from a Nero-psychiatrist (don't trust my spelling on that), to worry about if you are actually 'doing' things in your sleep, like grabbing or walking. That is not natural and should be analyzed by a professional.

Dreams are both horribly plain, and definitely mysterious. I treasure mine, but don't count on them to give you answers all the time. In some cases its just your mind stretching in the night.

The actual physical part of the jolt is a myochlonic twitch. It happens when you sleep because your body thinks it dying (to summarize if for you). This happens to jolt you, so it can realize that you are still alive. There's a lot of neurology involved with giving you the full explanation. So that's the answer to the twitching part. As for dreams, your dreams represent you, everything in your dream is a direct representation of your thoughts, and feelings. It's just an unconscious way we sort out things. The images in your dreams don't really reflect what you are seeing. You could have had something happen to you, that in so many words could represent the characteristics of ice. Maybe you had an encounter with something slippery, maybe you dropped something that was slipper. You could have been upset, and maybe felt cold towards someone. I had re-occurring dreams about my teeth falling out. And I realized that I was not doing so well with my boyfriend, and I think I don't know for sure if this is what is meant or not, but i think I represented my tooth, and my love was the action of actually falling out. So I was falling out of love with him. After I broke up with him. I didn't have the dreams. The only thing this whole thing is a sign of, is that you are a normal person. If you didn't twitch it could indicate neurological problems.

I don't care what people say, dreams do have meaning. And this one does too. I agree with the others in saying that you may be under some sort of stress. If this dream continues you can actually try to take over your dream and try to walk down those stairs. Maybe your brain is saying, "You know, I never got a chance to conquer those stairs, I will try to now." I had a dream where I was walking between two fences, I used to walk between two fences (between two pieces of property when I was younger and going to grade school). A dog on one side would RUN up to the fence and bark its head off at me, literally inches away. I would get scared. At night I had a series of three dreams where a wild boar was charging at me from the other end of the alley. The first dream I got gored and woke up. The second one I hopped up onto one of the fences and tightroped my way past the boar. The third dream the boar charged and I grabbed it by the head and twisted its neck, killing it. I never had those dreams again. I had more like this, but I don't want to get into it. Learn how to control your dreams by realizing you're dreaming. Since the stairs don't exist anymore, in the dream you should say, these don't exist, they were torn down years ago. Then you can try to go down them, or they could disappear. The first time you realize you're dreaming could lead you to wake up early. Don't get discouraged! I've been trying to control mine for a while, sometimes I stop trying then I get back into it. But I succeeded a few times and it's amazing!

I used to have the same dreams to. I used to dream about me falling off a cliff, then when I am about to hit the ground, I wake up. I feel like I have just rose from my bed, then got droped. It's really freaky. I tried sleeping pills but it didn't work. Then one day, it just suddenly stop. I never has those dreams again. Just wait a few more days and then it will be all gone. If that doesn't work, try focusing other things on your mind while you are sleeping

Alright people, dreams are random neural firings, not the mage of middle earth coming to tell you have a dark fate. You are stressed out of your mind. Take some lunesta and go to sleep. When you have a nightmare, you wake up quickly with a 'jolt' because you are scared. No sith lord is zapping you with lightning. Go to sleep. Go to work late, tell your boss your cat died.

I personally have. It happens when I'm really tired. But, when it happens to me, I'm in my grandma's house and I'm about to tip over and fall down her stairs. The stairs get bigger as I'm falling and when I'm like 2 feet away from hitting the stairs, I smack my body against the bed hard like I begin to have a seizure. Then I know I'm like 2 minutes from going to sleep.

It doesn't happen much anymore, probably happend about one year ago. I had a lot of stress from school work, and the reason it was always my grandma's I think because I was always afraid of them. They were very steep, and she had it up untill I was 7. So all in all I think it was because I had a lot of stress, I'm kinda afraid of hightes, and my grandma's staircase was weird when I was 4.

Hope that helps. If you want to talk more on it I have AIM and msn.

When your body sleeps, it paralyzes itself so you don't act out what you are doing in your sleep. However, intense fright can temporarily remove this. I have kicked out suddenly in my sleep before, and I often kicked in the dream I was having too. Sometimes it just can't be helped, and high amounts of stress make it occur more often.
