I don't believe diets work permanently. I found that I lost weight and keep it off by a) exercising the way I like to (hence, I keep doing it); and b) eating everything I like, but making sure that every day I include a fruit salad, a vegetable salad, and raw nuts (doesn't matter how large servings are). No starving, no deprivation. Works for me.

the only way diet books work...is if you spend ALL your money on them...and then can't afford to buy food!
On a serious note. If you want to diet, before you even think of it make sure you don't have any allergies, or dislike certain foods intensely.
Cos Mum found one ages ago that she swore by, and I tried it.{It did guarantee 7lb weight lost in 5 days, then back to normal eating.} Trouble was it had loads of citrus in it..which I can't eat.
The F-plan was pretty good, as it had you eating fibre rich foods that fill your stomach.
Just have a look at what there is, decide if you like the foods...and they agree with you.
The food doctor books seem very good, telling you which foods to eat for certain reasons...more to the point..they tell you what vitamins and minerals are in the everyday foods, so that if you do diet..you don't miss out on something vital that your body needs.

Diet books can't read you the riot act for eating the wrong thing and can't pick out the best eating plan for you. I recommend using a personal trainer, one with weight management training, which most good ones should have. They will be able to advise you on exactly the best weight loss plan for you including food and exercise. I know they're a bit expensive, but they are bloody good and by far the best way to take control of your own body shape.

well a book in itself is obviously not going to do the work for you and any reasonable eating and exercise plan is all you really need, i am not trying to be sarcastic or anything but diets dont work at all because people expect that when they reach their goal they can go back to eating the way they were eating before and maintain their weight and it obviously doesnt work that way. what you are looking for is a lifestyle change. what worked for me was a treadmill (set up in my living room so i had to look at it every day) i started with 20 min a day and worked up from there, when you work out enough you dont have to stress too much about your eating, just adjust your portions. but the program that worked best to change my attitude about food and helped me lose 15 pounds in a month and a half was the Lindora program. it is meant for extremely overweight people but its principles for healthy living can be applied to anyone. If you go to Lindora.com you can buy the book even if you are not a member of their program. it worked for my mom too

ooh, i forgot, sparkpeople.com works wonders too! it helps to see exactly how many calories you are taking in and it tracks all your exercise and calorie intake as you go along and helps you reach your goals one step at a time, also provides great recipes

No the diet industry sells us a myth wrapped in glitter and endorsed by the A list celebrities with a touch of the air brush.

You are the only person who will make this possible by changing a few things like what your eating,as mentioned by other people eat loads of vegetables, munch heaps of fruit,go haywire with nuts, make smoothies yummy, and drink water this will keep you hydrated and can make you full.

Exercise needs to be added make sure it is something you enjoy rollerblading, street hockey, scrambling, swimming, football, mountaineering there is so many real good sports which can make your endorphins do handstands.

Self imagine needs to be look at and the negative thoughts kicked in to touch....come on bet you have great eyes? what about your behind? legs arms in-fact the whole of your body, people do not run across the street to hide if you walk passed do they? so there you see positive thoughts.

Each morning say to yourself I feel good and look good just need to do a few alterations which I am working on......
(Go on do for 2 weeks see what happens) bet you might notice a change.

Good Luck you do not need it have fun and allow for days when the food gremlins will get the better of you but hey tomorrow your armed and ready to meet them full on.

No! For me the word DIET alone conjures up thoughts of starvation and miserable exercise classes. Each time I embark on a new DIET I try to convince myself that this new way of eating is called A HEALTHY EATING PLAN (sounds better) which I should be able to maintain for life. However life isn't that simple and I am still struggling on but am sure one day the right plan for me will find it's way to me. I guess you too will one day find your way!!!!!!

late last year i was 17 stone, now at the moment i am 14 stone, i managed to lose 3 stone just by keeping busy, i used to eat when i was bored or depressed so keeping busy really gave me a helping hand. i walk everywhere instead of driving and im starting to feel much more energetic and confident within myself, im not actually doin any other exercises or workouts, just walking. when ur busy or doin something, u dont want to eat no matter how hungrey u feel so u lose weight and ur stomache shrinks as u do so, its alot more easier and u dont feel ur putting urself out or restricting ur food!

Maybe you are a visual person (learner?) like me. I use www.myfooddiary.com. It so easy to use, completely personalized, and based on the input calories you consume per day it tells you what your weight will be in a month and 3 months if you ate the same amount of calories every day. Its $9 a month, and completely worth it. Check it out.

Diet books do not work. All you need to do is take more exercise. It is that simple.

our diet book won't even do the dishes or take out the trash, let alone get a job and work.
