It could either be a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo, depending on when you bought it. If it's only a few months old or practically brand new then it has a Core 2 Duo, if it was one of the first MacBooks on the market then it has a Core Duo.

Both the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo are dual core processors, the difference between the two are the following:

The Core Duo is a 32-bit dual core processor, the Core 2 Duo is a 64-bit dual core processor, also, the Core Duo has 2MB of L2 cache where the Core 2 Duo has 4MB of L2 cache (I'm not looking this up, that's from memory but I'm fairly certain of that). If that helps you distinguish at all what your system is telling you great... if not... I really don't know.

Go to the Apple Menu > About this Mac and hit the More Information button and select your processor from the list, it should tell you all that information and more, hopefully, you will be able to tell from there.

I would think the About This Mac menu would have the processor model and type listed such as Core 2 Duo at 1.83GHz (or whatever you have).

The person below suggested CPUz which is all well and good, if you were running Windows. My presumption is that you are running OSX in which case... CPUz will not work as it is a Windows only application.

Try googling "Cpuz" download the software if possible and it should tell you what you want to know about your processor and more.
