Y!A and 360 are taking over my life. I've lost all control at this point.
I think I need a support group....
Same thing, books, movies, shopping.... Nothing gets done.

Yes. It is a distraction. But it doesn't have to be a negative one. Sometimes I get on here so I get out of my own head...stop those negative thoughts from swirling around. And you are probably right there are more productive things to be doing, but you are allowed some mindless entertainment.
Cause this is your life and its ending one minute at a time...

I guess you could think of it like that. But as long as it doesn't make you call into work, and you get a little exercise and a shower every now and then, you'll be ok. It's better that other distractions, like being a drunkard, or a crank head, or a TV couch potato.

Nope, I stay on Yahoo from very early in the morning and stay on until VERY late at night. I've never found it distracted me from anything.
In fact, life is a distraction from Yahoo.. Funny thing is one of my kids (can't remember their name) asked me something similiar to your question, I wonder why?

SO TRUE!!!
The deadline for my "Great American Novel" is November, 2007. Me checking into Y!A every other day is not allowing me to finish my research, and actually write!
Not to mention all of my other leisure pursuits...
Yahoo, the opiate of the masses!

No, it just fills in the quiet times of my ordinary days, especially in the winter months when there isn't as much to do.
