its short for " are not" - the apostrophe replaces the vowel you removed from "not - so its "aren't"

Aren't.
It is a sortcut of ARE NOT. Writing "are'nt" makes no sence as the ' is useless and the "o" is missing.

It is aren't. I am glad you are asking, seems like there are very few people anymore, especially here who can't spell to save their lives, getting pretty sad.

Aren't. As explained above, the apostrophe takes the place of the o when you put the words "are" and "not" together.

Is not = Isn't (sometimes expressed as "ain't" as in the song "Ain't She Sweet?" --- not recommended in "proper" English).

Aren't.

Any contraction with "not" the apostrophe replaces the "o."

Isn't. Aren't. Wasn't. Etc.

It is aren't because you are leaving the 'o' out of the word not.
And Darktempl... it is spelled apostrophe.

Aren't, this is because the apostraphy is always between the N and the T

The ' is replacing the O so it's aren't.
