"China was the most important supplier to Iran's program to produce uranium compounds, including uranium hexafluoride, the highly corrosive gas used in centrifuges"

http://www.thebulletin.org/article.php?art_ofn=ma04albright

This is from the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists(a famous journal that talks about nuclear bombs, wmd, etc).

Russia has refused to supply uranium to Iran for its reactor until Iran agreed to specific conditions. Russia wants full control of the uranium going in and out of the reactor. Russia doesn't want Iranian nukes given to terrorists to be exploded in Russia. Iran supplies weapons to terrorists in Russia.

Iran doesn't need nuclear reactors. Iran has the second largest natural gas supplies in the entire world. It is has enough natural gas to power the country for hundreds of years.

More: Libya and Pakistan had Chinese Nuclear Bomb Plans

"New insights into the level of Chinese assistance to Pakistan came about in early 2004 as a result of on-site investigations into Libya's nuclear weapons program, following Mu`ammar al-Qadhdhafi's dramatic reversal on WMD programs in late 2003. As part of disarmament inspections, early Chinese nuclear weapons designs were handed over to IAEA inspectors by Libyan scientists, wrapped in plastic bags bearing an address in Islamabad. The possession by a third party of complete step-by-step instructions for a workable implosion-type bomb raised anew concerns over China's proliferation history with Pakistan, as notes included in the package of documents reportedly suggested that China continued to mentor Pakistani scientists on the finer points of bomb-building over several years following the technology transfers. Both China and Pakistan have refused to admit any knowledge of the transfer"

More information about Iran's nuclear program. And how Iran tried to hide the program from international inspectors.

Yes, of course. It is obvious.

Stop giving money to the Communist nation that threatens your nation. Strengthen your own industries.

Why rely on an enemy who supports your other enemy to give you bread? Make it yourself and strengthen your own self.

What nuclear bomb program? Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapons program. How could China have helped them in a program that doesn't exist? It has been confirmed by the IAEA as "untruthful".

And if you don't mind, i'll take the words of independent nuclear experts over the words of people who lied about:

1) Hussein being involved in 9/11.
2) Hussein housing Al Qaeda.
3) Hussein having WMD's.

Honestly, there ignorance and idiocy shown on this issue is frigthening. Its no wonder the same LIE told about Iraq in 2003 is being successful again in america. What is the matter with you people?

This is an extremely dangerous situation. Its economic warfare that could lead to nuclear warfare very soon. As far as the US is concerned, its about Petrodollar being changed to petroEuro.

Please, lets leave the "Iran nuclear" comic book childishness in the annals of utter shame and embarrassment.

You have to be kidding.. about 2 thirds of our goods come from China that most other countries could not sell us at that cost..Yeah we could shut down trade with them, but many stores here in the US would go bankrupt and trade would be at a standstill.Oil prices would skyrocket and almost everything you take for granted will be increased beyond capacity too be bought..I am not sure what they sold to iran iraq or whomever but if you think about it .. Its not worth the cost of our economy to stop trade with them. There are just somethings you can't change ,like racism and the sun rising and setting..To stop trade with china would be suicide for the US .. im sure there are other diplomatic ways of dealing with an issue of this magnitude but geez.. We are just messed up if we do and messed up if we dont and well too tell you the truth the forefathers of this country would turn over in their graves if they knew some of the things that we have done that they said never do.. Look at our debt as one and also keeping our nose out of other peoples buisness.. George Washington founding father was the first one to say do not do this..but did we listen noooooooooo so what you sow you shall also reap. .

We have not been able to verify that Iran has a nuclear weapons program. They deny having one. Iran is entitled under the nuclear non-proliferation treaty to enrich uranium, and to build reactors. UN inspectors have found no weapons program. Of course, UN inspectors found no WMD in Iraq, and, clearly, Iraq had them. In the 1970's the US had deals in place to sell Iran three nuclear reactors to use to produce electricity. We are in no position to cease trading with China. They make nearly everything we use day to day.

That would be an economic disaster for the U.S. (or any other nation)to stop doing business with China. The more capitalism in China grows the more the money there is to be made, by a myriad of people and corporations.

Besides the only reason China helped Iran is access to cheap oil, a resource China desperately needs right now.

Iran did not receive their nuclear ability through China, rather a Pakistani nuclear scientist by the name of A.Q. Khan. He has supplied detailed information on the black market to some very dangerous organizations, including the government of Iran.

First of all I should sat that according to ehat I know Iran has got Uranium and Uranium enricjment facilities through snugglers, mostly Pakistani, and China did not supplied Tehran with nuclear technology.
Then I should you a question.
Can you stop trading with China??

2007-02-01 23:05:42 · answer #7 · answered by edward_evil 2 · 0 2

Unfortunately, that's not practical. China is a huge trade partner with the US. Stopping trade with China would hurt the US economy. And I'm not talking an 'owie' hurt.

The US has a huge trade deficit with China, so that needs to be addressed, but "stopping doing business" with China, will not happen.

(an FYI, that link doesn't work)

Nearly Impossible. Not to mention that the Chinese Military actually guards our western ports. they are in charge of the security at most of our western U.S. ports receiving goods from all over the world. And we almost gave all our Eastern ports to the United Arab Emirates. Got some real brain surgeons working in the U.S. Government.

This question is too hard for me. On one hand, it is probably to our advantage to continue interacting with China as much as possible, because we will have more influence.
On the other hand, it appears that China will sell anything to anybody. We should probably require some limits on their commerce. With China, money talks louder than anything else.
