YES! It's true. Why are you sending her money?????? You're a sucker! They do, and it doesn't seem like the guys get it. I lived there for a year and a half. Every time I saw an old, bald, fat American guy holding hands with the "Mabini Girls" as we called them (Mabini Street is where the hookers are...) Some would even hang out at the local Starbucks to pick up the guys... might as well have had a pole and a red-light there! We would just laugh to ourselves. Why? Because we saw them with LOTS of different guys. For those guys that think they are the only one, or that the girls really love them, get a clue! Of course, I'm sure some of them are sincere, but I knew plenty of girls/women that made it clear that they just wanted to get married to move to the U.S... Why on Earth are you sending her money? What do you owe her? If she can't fend for herself in her own country, what would you expect if you bring her over to the U.S. It's incredibly difficult for Filipinos to get a U.S. visa. Some apply for years, and continually get rejected. This is why they are so "attracted" (yeah right) to the old, fat guys that are desperate for a girlfriend. Sorry, but I've just seen it too much to believe that this girl is really sincere. Stop sending the money.. Let's see what happens..... I'm just looking out for you buddy! Don't be a sucker, especially when you don't even know her that well.

hmmm why don't you visit her and find out.. you can spend time there and stay in a nice hotel there and can usually find cheap flights on a lot of airlines from time to time..stop sending money and tell her you are saving to go there to visit and see what happens.. many are just baiting guys but many really want a good husband and a better life. You can only judge that going there and really its not that big of a deal.its not that expensive and actually its fun.I can almost assure you if she is after the money you wont be over there two days without a girl that will be true to you.i have been there many times and although the filipino i married had been here for years i still found that there are many women there that are only sincere..

If you are sending money it could be a scam. I might not even be a woman, and maybe not even in the country you think that they are in.
There is a Yahoo group called Romance Scams which might be worth visiting.
Let me clarify that I am not saying that women from any particular country are scammers, but anyone sending money to a possible love interest abroad needs to be alerted to a BIG problem about scammers that is not getting the attention it deserves.

I don't know... Want me to ask my parents? My step-dad (he's American) married my mom, who's Russian. I can ask about how they did it and email you later or something, ok? Edit: Don't listen to all the Russia-haters. Russians can love people as much as any American. My mom was raised as with very Russian views (she moved here when she was about 26) and she's a totally normal American citizen now! Oh, and in case you didn't know, you don't need to be a citizen to live here and be a part of the society.

Listen anyone who has never met you before and has barely talked with you and yet wants to marry you usually has ulterior motives. Its not just Phillipinos. Its ANYBODY!! My sister in law tried to set me up with her brother, a Nigerian living in China (don't ask).
Anyway he and i had had about 5 brief LABOURED conversations over the phone (he wasnt a very articulate fellow and by the end of it i was just chatting to be polite and pass the time). By the 6th conversation he asked my hand in marriage. Even Stevie Wonder would have seen something was fishy about that. i uncermoniously stopped speaking with him that day - cos i sussed he was getting tired of eating noodles and wanted to come live in the UK.
If you are trying to hook up with a Phillipino living overseas the chances are that you are desperate to meet someone. Please try not to let your heart rule your head. Figure it out for yourself and look for the truth, no matter how unpleasant.
good luck.

While in the Military, we lived next door to one and I got to know her quite well. They really do want to marry men from the U.S..
Most overseas do and it is to get over here and for the money. Yours could be love however and if not,do you want to take the chance that she may learn to love you ? It is your choice ~~Jill

Give it a try man. You have nothing to lose. You may obtain legal advise from a lawyer if you worry about her taking your money. You never know if it's real love or not unless you give it a try.

If anyone agrees to marry you without getting to know you first - and you can't do that by mail, e-mail or phone calls, their principal reason is 99.9% of the time financial. However, that is not to say this mail-order-bride will not come to love you.
It just depends on how big a gambler you are!
