If i did o.k. in 9th grade and good in 10th,11th, & 12th grade, would the 9th grade scores really count? (especially the final report cards)

Does it really matter for high end universites like UCLA & Berkeley?

If you did fine in the 10-12th grades, you should be OK for college. In fact, many people w/less than 9th grade formal educations take the GED and go to college.
Good Luck!

9th grade doesn't count as much as the following grades...most colleges assume that you were transitioning into high school, and as long as they see an improvement each year, you should be fine. Usually college applications have a section where you can explain any bad grades or anything also, so you can explain your grade there. I think it's pretty typical, though, to have your worst grades be in the beginning, so I wouldn't worry too much.

UC's actually don't include your 9th grade scores. They look at them, but don't include them in your GPA when deciding when to admit you.

Most schools do count it.

It counts if you are trying to get in to a university. If you are going to go to a community college then it isn't as important. But for the most part it is because how you do in school affects what classes you will have to take in college. If you skip out on a couple classes then you will have to take them in college.
