I have a laptop monitor hanging around (its separated from my laptop) and I was wanting to know how I can turn it into a monitor for my desktop PC.

Is there an adaptor I can buy?

Thanks

You shouldn't do that.
however, if you are, you have to take off the casing, and somehow find the same size monitor (CRT or LCD) casing... off ebay of whatever, and try to fit it in...
although monitor and LCD panels are very dangerous and SHOULD NOT BE DONE...
Just sell the LCD on eBay, you'll get a descent price for it

the laptop makes use of a LVDS sign to the video reveal. the pc might use a VGA or DVI sign. they do no longer seem to be nicely matched without VGA to LVDS converter container. i seen some some years in the past on ebay and have been given one for the comparable objective. it develop into $40 9 at that factor. i won't be able to locate it anymore (ebay). shop looking and notice once you discover one. that's the only thank you to do it. EDIT: The instructable published until now via the different guy isn't what you desire. that instructable is unquestionably on a thank you to teach a working laptop right into a multi function video reveal variety of element. yet demands the laptop to artwork. no longer a thank you to trun the liquid crystal reveal right into a video reveal.

I haven't been reading closely, however, there could be a way to do it, just that, you will need an expert electronic expert to do it (or reverse engineer), and may cost more. You would have to have a different PCB board to control the graphics, as the LCD Screen is just a screen, but without the Video scrambler/descrambler.

That's just me and I don't want to give you false promises. The best answer should be "Just Sell It", as one answerer stated.
