In one of your answers somebody said that it is not safe to do that. They are wrong. I talked to my doctor about this because I got married last year and wanted to skip my period for my wedding. She said that it is perfectly safe to use your birth control to skip a period. Instead of taking the sugar pills aka the placebo pills start taking a new pack of pills. Just beware that you may have very light breakthrough bleeding after a while but not usually right away so it will buy you some time unless it makes you skip your period completely. You just do not want to make a habit out of it is all. You want to make sure that you have at least 4 periods in one year. Try not to go for any less than that.

You can use the Pill to stop your period. What the pill does is effectively fool your body into thinking it is pregnant, and hence while ever you are taking active hormone pills, you should not menstrate. Most pills have a few days worth of sugar pills so that you menstrate during this period just like normal, but there are some people who take the hormone pills constantly and don't menstrate at all. Whether or not this is safe is probably not definitively been worked out, but if you are doing it short term it doesn't seem to be dangerous.
You should discuss with your local GP for more details information.
