Janice rented a moving van for one day at a rate of $30 per day plus $0.25 per mile. While of the following equations can she use to calculate c, the cost, in dollars, of renting the van for one day and driving it m miles? a) c=55m b)c=30.25m c) c= 20+$0.25m d) c= $0.25 + 30 m

I don't think any of the chouces are right. It should be:
c=30 +.25m
is that what the third choice was supposed to be?

Solve the problem by assuming you rented for one day and drove m miles. Calculate the total cost of renting the van, than back calculate through the answers.

Ex. Assume you drove for 25 miles in one day. Your cost would be $30 + 25 miles ($0.25/mile) = $36.25 for the one day.

Now put m = 25 miles and solve for each of the answers above:

a) c = 55 (25) = $1375 {no}
b) c = 30.25 (25) = $756.25 {no}
c) c = 20 + 0.25 (25) = $26.25 {no}
d) c = 0.25 + 30 (25) = $750.25 {no}

Of all the answers c is closest to reality. If this was from a textbook it is possible that it was a mis-print (ie. the 20 should be a 30). Sometimes checking on the publisher's website might yield corrections to the printed problem (errata).

Good luck!

I'm hoping you typoed a 2 for the 3 it should have been in answer C cuz it's the only correct type of formula listedif $30 it the rental rate for the one day it was used you would then only need to add the total cost of the miles driven which would be the $.25 times m to reach a final total or cost=$30+$.25m

are you sure you typed the answer choices to the problem correctly?

the answer to the problem should be c=30+0.25m because the initial charge is $30 and they're charging an extra $0.25 per mile. you would need to multiply the cost per mile ($0.25) by the number of miles (m) and add that to $30 to get the final equation c=30+0.25m

if you did make a typo im sure it would be in answer choice c) c=20+$0.25m

hope i helped you!

what is the option c? is that really a 20?

it should be cost = 30 + (0.25 x m)

you multiply the miles with 0.25 and you get how much it cost her for the miles. and then you add 30 cause it costs 30 to rent it for a day.

None of those are right!

Try...

c = $30 + $0.25m

Cost = $30 plus 25 cents per mile (times the number of miles traveled.)

So, if she rented it for one day and traveled 4 miles, you would get...

c = $30 + $0.25(4)
c = $30 + $1
c = $31

Ok well its $30 a day plus the .25 every mile she drove. Since its one day it would $30 + the number of miles she drove times .25

so the answer would be well it would be which ever one of those say 30+.25m

it should be c=30+.25m i think you wrote it wrong in answer c. because you start out with $30 then you add .25 times however many miles you travel which would in this case be m.

I would have said the answer was c= m($0.25)+$30
or milage x $0.25 added to the daily hire of $30
Is this a multiple choice question, or are these your answers????
None of these are actually correct, as they are missing some of the functions. D is the closest, but it has not accounted for the variable mileage.

in the event that they have been crossed then x^2-7x+13 = 0 equation might have the determination. yet we've: x^2-6x+10 = x-3, x^2-7x+13 = 0, D = 40 9 - fifty two = -3 < 0 and this equation is'n solvable.
