No in the comics it had darker tones like The Darkness or Spawn..Nicholas Cage wanted to make the character his own and they wanted to make it so it was rated PG-13 so they can get a boarder audience to make the most money off a project that cost around 100 million to make they wanna get most of that back.

The comic Ghost Rider is tormented and set on getting at evil, much like the Punisher. He's on fire, not exactly what good cheer is made of.

In the comics, Blaze faces eternal damnation and this tends to make people the opposite of jolly and comical. However, I don't have a problem with a few funny moments in the cinematic versions as long as they don't go too far with it.

You mean the character from the comic book...no, it was darker and more supernatural like Spawn...Nicholas Cage is kind of goofy, though
