thats why you CAN get pregnant on your period. Because even if you arent ovulating when you have sex, if you ovulate a few days later, you can be impregnanted by the semen that is still present.

I was always told up to seven, and that you can ovulate any time of the month, not necessarily halfway between periods. So that means that you can get pregnant any time anyway, so it doesn't matter how long the sperm survives in a way.
