I have an interesting item, wandered if anyone could give me info abou it?

Question

It is a gold colored metal, brass I think. It is a flower that opens up and closes as you unscrew the base. The petals fall down when the base is unscrewed to reveal a small cup shaped part perhaps to hold oil. There are eight outer petals and and eight smaller inner petals. The petals close to form a rounded triangle or open fully. Anyone have any idea what this is or anything about it?
