Of course! That's part of the argument about the concept of a government induced minimum wage. People who didn't do the right things to earn a higher wage than minimum wage would automatically get a pay raise and not having done anything extra to earn that extra pay. The government should not protect people from the consequences of bad decisions. The government and we as citizens should let people fall on their face for making bad decisions. That seems to be the only people learn. People should learn that they should do the best they can in school so they won't have to earn minimum wage (forever). The country should be based on a meritocracy. That goes for the highest paid CEO down to the minimum wage employee. Higher pay based only on higher output. If the CEO is worth >$1M a year, he should paid for it. If the minimum wage employee is only worth minimum wage, that what they should get paid.

That sounds very reasonable to me. However, quite often those that are on a minimum wage seem to have some of the most labour intensive / stressful jobs around. I am a bartender / waiter, and I most definately do not get paid enough to put up with people's f*cking rudeness.
It makes me sick to the pits of my stomach to think that some fat pr*ck is earning $50,000,000 a year, sitting on his as* as the CEO of some corporation. The heaviest thing that man would ever have to lift would be a decaf-skim-mocha-latte that some waiter on a peasant's wage would have to f*cking make for him.
So in answer to your question: yes, if you get paid jack-sh*t, then I believe that you owe it to your employers to provide them with a likewise rate of performance.

Yes, they should be required to provide a minimum and if they don't accomplish it then they should be fired.
Minimum wage workers are the rudest working bunch of people I have ever come into contact with b/c theyre so miserable.

I thought that was the way almost any job was set up. If you don't produce what your employer wants, you get fired. It's a simple equation. That's the way it is everywhere, except for government employees, union workers. . . . . .

It would be fair wouldn't it? I'm always a mug-I get paid less than most other people I work with and do the most work all the time-I'm sick of being taken advantage of :-( I think everyone should have targets and if you don't reach 'em you don't get paid!!!

You would think so. However, we also give money to people who denote absolutely no production (i.e. Medicare, welfare etc…) Other people also make mega bucks for doing little.
