My best friend just had a baby boy. I want to buy something that he can keep all his life. What is the prefect gift? I need to get some ideas.

Something from things remembered. They have lots of frames or things that they should be able to keep for their whole life. Maybe an engraved album his mom can put his baby pictures in and give to him when he's old enough

Personally I think the perfect gift for a newborn is something the local Sear Protrait Studios offer its called a SmileSaver Card here. I covers all of the studio sitting fees for two years so the new baby and family can get as many photos in that time taken without needing to worry about the extra sitting fee cost. I am sure a studio in there area wether it be Sears, JC Penny or another company will offer something similar. Photos are a gift that gives for a lifetime.

How about personalized baby record book? Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They also have lots of other titles to choose from like Sesame Street, Mother Goose, Three Little Pigs, Farm Animals, Teddy Bear Land, Sports titles and so many more. They are very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful & unique gift. Check it out and good luck!

You could put together a "the day you were born" memory box. You buy a box that can fit a newspaper, some magazines (time, national geographic, people etc) etc from when they were born. Mom and dad could also put stuff in from when they were born such as any cards that visitors brought, etc. Just a thought. I just think it would be neat to look back 20, 30 years from now and see what was happening in the world the day/month you were born.

Do you have a Michael's craft store near you? They sell this crystal hand kit. You make a mold and you end up with a little 3d replica of the baby's hand. Really cool and not too hard. Did that with my baby and its neat to see how much bigger her hand is. Also maybe buy a piece of clothing that won't go out of style, like a t-shirt, in the size for a teen. Then his mom can take his pic in it every year on his birthday until he fits in it. Saw this done with girls with swimsuits and wedding dresses. Cool to see how much they've grown. Thats all I can think of right now.

get a scrape book kit for him. Get the pages all ready to go then as his mom takes pictures of him all she has to do is tape them in the book and doing a little writing. Its something personal that he will be able to enjoy when he grows up. even when he's two he will love looking at pictures of him self. Wal-mart has kits i'm sure most craft stores do. Creative Memories also has nice ones if you know a Consultant

a truly selfless gift would be cash or a gift card to somewhere that would be shopped frequently... the parents would no doubt appreciate it and they definitely need it more than they need another picture frame or onesie...

think about it, in the end that contribution ultimately helps the most to new parents... you may not get remembered, but the gift is not for you, is it?

just give them the $100 gift card and be done with it...

good luck...

I bought a book for my mother to give my baby just this christmas... I thought it was really really nice.

It's a grandmothers book and you have the grandma fill out the whole book, from her favorite things to her mothers name to pictures of where she lived ...theres a part for a family tree thing...

I thought it was very touching as I lost my grandmother at a very young age...and I didn't get a chance to know her very well...so I thought for my son...at least when he's older he'll always have this book written in her own hand with pictures and everything.

Good Luck :)

get a newspaper from the day he was born, a photo of his mom now, a t shirt that fits him, ask mom for something from the hospital and make a shadow box, you can find a kit for them at any craft store, may i also suggest getting mom a basket of bath salts, skin cream bath sponge and things like that, often times everyone gets something for and about the baby and forget what an emotional time this is for mom, she will really appreciate it
