Of course not. He's not even beyond the age of the people who went straight from high school.

NOPE!! and tell him to take his time if he needs to....working part-time, studying abroad, dong projects....
I went back to school and stopped going twice before focusing on community college at age 21. I wen part-time for five years, traveled and worked, then transferred to a university as a junior and finished in another two years, at age 28.
As a result, I have way more life and work experience than other college graduates, and I appreciated school because it was a choice, not just "what I was expected to do after high school"
I had classmates in their 30s, 40s, 50s....what matters is you.

I don't think it is never too late to start your education. Don't see it as a waste of time but as time spent on improving yourself. Even if you don't become a famous artist, if you enjoy doing art GO FOR IT!!

No you are never too young. I went back to college to get another degree and I was 37 yrs old. There were people in the forties and fifties that were also attending school.

Absolutely not. Grandma Moses was told all her life she was only a farmer's wife...after he died she started painting in her 70's, the rest is history. Your friend only wasted his life (relative term anyway) is he didn't learn anything from what he's done.
