When I was quite young, we found a squirrel in our front yard that was blind in one eye. We ended up feeding it for a day and taking it to a wildlife refuge center, so that they could take care of it, but because of a lack of space, they asked if we could keep it with us, and gave us information on how to take care of it. We had it for years, and I came quite attached to it. Now, living on my own, i was looking into getting another squirrel as the old one (Wombat, i'd named him) is still back at home with my folks. However, they aren't exactly falling out of trees up here, and i'm not sure if there's a good, eco-friendly way I could "adopt" another little fella. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a squirrel that I could bring unto my house with me as a pet? It would be fine with me if it came from a refuge center of some kind, as my first was comepletely blind after two years, yet I still loved it till I moved away. Thanks for any help you can give!

adopting a squirrel isnt a good idea because they take up so much room, they need a ton of space to roam. I suggest a hamster, gerbil, jird, guinea pig, chinchilla or pet mouse instead to fill up the hole, yes i like rodents too their cute but its not ethical to raise a squirrel because few people can give them proper conditions.

OK who ever said pet-co is totally wrong, there are no squirrels there. SHEESH. OK but anyway. I would suggest that you get out your phone book right now and look up wildlife reservations or wild animal hospitals. That's where you would most likely find one. I got a pet chipmunk from one and it was great until it died. You would probably be able to persuade them in giving you a permanently injured one. Hope this helps and if you like it vote it as best answer.

It's actually illegal to trap and keep any wild animal. In order to do this the right way, you would need to go to a wildlife rehab center and get one that way, the same sort of way you got the first.

Good luck
