Your state taxes pay for your roads, the police and fire departments, the people that work at court houses and public schools. If you think America can live without all of that you are an idiot. As for how much you made GET A BETTER JOB!!!!!

I don't know what state you live in, but that sucks. You are below the poverty line and in my opinion, you shouldn't pay any. It also depends on what state you live in. You might be able to get it all back. And it isn't because of Pres. Bush. He has NO control over what your state does. To the little immature girl above me, you speak of what you don't know. Hush and no one will know whether you are a fool or not. Some states don't have a state income tax, and those all happen to be Red states, or Republican. I live in Texas and we only pay a Fed. tax. By Fed. tax standards, you get all of your money back, except what you pay for Soc. Sec. and medicare.

Unless you live in a state with no sales taxes, you probably paid a higher percentage of your income in taxes than most people, especially the very well off.

Republicans like to pretend that sales taxes aren't really taxes, because the low-income nobodies pay a disproportionate share.

Your adjusted gross income on Federal 1040 may end up below the minimum income required to file a return and/or pay taxes. Find out what your adjusted gross income is before you get upset.
