What you should be is a family member of one of the players, because that is who generally gets those jobs.

Dusty Baker's kid was the bat-boy in San Francisco for years and Mark McGwire's kid was the bat-boy in St. Louis.

It's not a typical job that anyone can apply for, generally it goes to someone related to a member of the team or of the team's managment.

Sorry.

I know of 2 of my daughters friends that are batboys for the Yankees and they are not family members of the players. I believe the boys High School got them the job. I am not saying that it is by any means easy to get but it is not only open to the players family members

In many cases the family member is only an occasional bat boy.

Generally they are looking for a young man around 17-18 (sr yr in hs) , and has the availability to be at every home game. Your grades & maturity are huge, as is your parents being in support of this 100%. They don't want to see your grades decline due to the commitment of time involved.

Contact the office of public relations for the team located near your home & inquire about the opportunity & how to proceed & indicate your interest. You may want some assistance from an adult or parent if you aren't confident making this call.

They may have filled any spots for this season, but you can still find out details for the 08 season if 07 is covered already.

Compose a letter outlining your desire, baseball involvement, grades, any other extra curricular stuff (like scouts) and have some indication of how you'll get to the park, & what your folks think about this.

You never know until you try, If there is a minor league club near you check it out as well. You may get a foot in the door there & move up.
