DDR2 533 or DDR 400 and why

Better memory is only that which supports your Computer.
check with your hardware vendor which mother board you have.
according to its manual, only install the memory that is set for your board,
if your memory is 533, and if it dosent support ur board, then ur OS working might be affected,
see that you ahve the right RAM for your kind of Board.

DDR2 533 is better than DDR400.All depends the clock speed

DDR2 and DDR are 2 different memory types - they aren't compatible with each other. DDR2 is the newer standard though. You might be able to find more info by going to http://www.crucial.com

Dunno exactly, but I think the numbers correspond to the 'clock-speed' of the chips, in this case 533Mhz and 400Mhz.

I'd say go with DDR2 533, if your motherboard supports this RAM type.
