You could try to start off with : "Stress. It happens to all of us. Well, when this happens to some people, they turn to smoking to resolve their problems. Even though, most of them are fully aware about the harm that it could do to them. Would you ever try something like that? Would you do something that you know is wrong to do, just to relieve some stress? Would you risk your life, and others, just to supposedly clear your mind? Many people are doing this by smoking, and it is very harmful to them and others around them." Then just continue with your points. Hope I helped. Good luck!

Ask the audience how many people would do something deliberately if they knew that it would kill them? You probably won't get any hands raised, so then make the point that millions of people every day are doing it and it's called smoking.

ask a question that everyone would have to answer no to...for example you could say...if you knew something you were doing could end your life early, damage your social life, and cause other people deaths would you still want to do it? and then say well thats whats happening when you smoke....after that start your paper

find out how many people died in 2006 as a result of chronic smoking and compare that figure to the number of people who died during famous historic diasterous events such as earthquakes, tsunamis, wars, etc.

It helps to open up with a joke... not knock knock... but something funny about the night, crowd, or your reason for being there... That will loosen up the crowd, you, and whatever introduction... even if it sucks... will sound good

Why don't you light a cigarette? Someone will yell at you that you're not supposed to do that in a public building and there you go....you're off and running.
