It's kinda like playing a game of eight ball...He's finally "slopped" enough balls in that he's finally gonna get a shot at the eight, but it had absolutely nothing to do with any pre-determined plan, now we'll see if he sinks the eight and wins, misses and gets beat,or scratches and loses outright...

I'll bet you didn't know that the Democrats were screaming for more troops. The generals said they wanted more troops too, and the Dems agreed. Bush wouldn't budge. For months, the Dems screamed for more troops. Then the report came out and recommended more troops, giving the Dems what they had been demanding. Bush pondered this for too long, and finally agreed to give the generals, the liberal Congress, and the Baker-Hamilton report what they asked for. The result? The double-minded libs changed their position after Bush agreed to giving them what they had asked for. Then they started screaming against their own plan. Why? They will NEVER support ANYTHING Bush does, even if it was their demand in the first place!

Do a little fact checking next time you jump on a bandwagon.

How is a troop surge staying the course, then?

There's a bigger plan in play here. It's got Syria, Iran, Jordan and Saudi Arabia scared. It's called, multi-party democracy.

Just because generals or anyone else has a plan does not mean it will be a successful plan. Bush is the commander in chief, and is free to choose which generals he listens to.
