Excluding the fact that they can sing or not..it's the thought that counts right? =)

Maybe the fact that there's a difference between sweet corny and lame corny applies here? =p

Yes! Don't you feel awkward? What are you supposed to do, sit there and gawk at them while they're singing to you? and when it's done, do you clap? Sorry, totally corny! I don't believe in corn.

It is corny, but lovely. Singing ability is actually a negative. The worse singer they are, the more appealing it is. It shows they are willing to expose themselves to mockery and rejection because they cannot refrain from warbling their devotion.

The only exception to the appealing nature of serenades is Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald's "Indian Love Call" duet. Too cheesy for words.

Your question reminded me of the John Cusack film "Say Anything" in which he plays Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" outside the window of the girl he loves. So I googled Cusack serenade and came up with a funny site "Which John Cusack Character Are You?" Take this test - it's hilarious: http://home.mn.rr.com/couplandesque/quizzes/johnquiz.htm

Once there was this guy who liked me, but I wasn't sure how I felt about him. Well, he serenaded me, and I made up my mind right then and there that there was no way I could ever like him (or think about him without laughing). I think serenading someone is totally corny, sorry.
