The classroom is located in the hall known as the art hall. The students who spend large portions of their time in the hall are referred to as “the art kids” due to their artistic talent and unusual taste in clothing. Yet, I soon discovered in my sculpture class that despite their mostly gothic garments, the arts kids are surprisingly friendly.

They sound right to me. I think the art hall is supposed to be capatilized, though. And in the second sentence, when you say "The students who spend large portions of their time in the hall..." I think you should put in this hall...and I think another " under art kids in the last sentence..other than that, I think it's fine.
