Why do you think only men are retarded about relationships? Women enter into relationships with abusers thinking that they'll change. Is that so sane? Women don't really want to talk about their feelings; they want to hint at them and men are supposed to pick up the meaning through, oh...I don't know...ESP? Also, women talk about wanting to know how men feel but they really don't. They only want men to talk about the feelings that are convenient to the woman. The ones they don't agree with are "wrong", and any counselor will tell you that you're the problem as soon as you pass judgment on another's feelings...even a man's.

I can't leave this go without pointing out a particular hypocrasy--sexual urges. Men are portrayed as the aggressors; slobbering beasts the lot of them. Yet a woman pining away for a child is instantly transformed into the Virgin Mary, halo and all. That's a sexual urge though, and it's treated quite a bit differently. The extreme occurs when the woman decides her baby's father isn't the sort of person she wants in her or the baby's life, but she and the rest of society decides that he owes her child support. Why? She can offer the child for adoption. If she won't, she should bear the full cost of raising that child. Why should a man be subjected to an 18-year shakedown just so a woman can fulfill her sexual urge to have a baby?

Yes. Men tend to use a different part of the brain.

But if I may turn it around.

Why are women so smart about things like relationships, but so retarded when it comes to mechanics & math?

I'm sorry, but you are 'way wrong' with your question ... was Freud 'retarded'? Was Carl Jung 'retarded'? Some men are better at mechanical and math things, and some men are better at 'psychology' (relationships). Women are 'just the same' too ... and it is only our 'conditioning' (the way we are raised as babies and children, and the rewards/punishments we get) that can frequently 'overshadow' the 'natural talents' we are born with. So it may 'seem' that men are 'better with mechanical and math' and 'retarded' in 'relationships' ... but if you are far more 'open' to things yourself, maybe you'll find one who is really 'good at' the kind of relationship you think you want ... but beware, because that may not be the kind of relationship you "NEED" to continue to grow both as a person all by yourself and as a partner with a man.

It's cultural. Men are encouraged to learn technical skills and discouraged to think about or spend time learning about relationships. Similarly, women are encouraged and discouraged exactly in opposite ways. Why didn't you ask why women are smart about relationships but retarded when it comes to math and mechanics? Do THEY use a 'weird area of the brain or something'?

Because boys are raised and encouraged to be good in stereotypical "guy stuff." It's not just the parents doing this, it's friends, strangers, media. Whenever boys do exhibit any behaviors that have to do with emotions, it is looked down upon and is seen as a sign of weakness. A lot of girls are really smart in math or mechanics, they are just less encouraged to pursue those areas. It has to stop.

Sounds like a question that a woman would ask... Men are women ARE biologically different. This is not my opinion, this is proven scientific fact. The brains of men and women DO function in different ways. It's part of what makes the sexes unique, and also part of what attracts us to one another. You REALLY need to read "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus"...Great boook that really goes into detail about this. So give us guys a break if we seem to be "retarded"...We get just as frustrated with the fairer sex ourselves.

Men are more left brain and women are more right brain. But it's not all the time, some men and women tend to work with both sides of the brain. It's a primative thing as well.

Simply put, math and mechanics follow a standard. Relationships don't. What you want/need out of a relationship may not be the same as his. That's when the two of you should sit down and communicate what you BOTH want out of the realtionship.

I think the reason stems from men's minds grasping analytical subjects so easily, but we struggle with matters of the heart. It's the whole testosterone/estrogen thing. Just look at me as your case study; I'm a private investor, so I'm great with numbers, but I've single-handedly ruined every relationship I've been in.
