Yes it is a rule in my house. We have a covered porch were everyone takes off their shoes before coming into the house. I always take my shoes off when entering other peoples homes too. If I expect them to take their shoes off in my house I should do the same in theirs.

Yes. You don't want to trample dirt or something all over the house. Also, when you are at someone else's house you should take off your shoes. It's just polite.

I found the best solution is to buy slippers 3 sizes bigger than your actual size and leave them by the front door. When entering you can then just slip into them without having to remove whatever footwear you've got on. Hey presto, cozy toes all day

I'm Japanese. It's mandatory and habit. I find it weird, when, my kids like to wear shoes in the house. Usually, I make them take their shoes off!

I take mine off every time I enter my home.I work in customer service and I go into a lot of homes I have booty's I put on over my boots.Because O.S.H.A. says I cant take them off.(for my safety)

Nope, I take mine off when Ive done everything that needs doing like cleaning, washing, cooking. Then when I have the evening to myself and kids are in bed, they come off and I relax with a cuppa and a book, curled up on the sofa.
