Well, I know nothing about how the internet works but, my internet activity keeps stopping...What I mean is that when I check my local area network status(the 2 computer icons in the bottom right) my received activity is frozen. I don't have Windows Service Pack 2 installed and my firewall isn't even on...Does anyone know why? I use a wireless router by the way...It's also not secure.

When the connection stops receiving data/packets/activity it stops forever unless I unlpug the router and turn off the DSL modem for like 5 minutes.

Try right-clicking on the icon and choose Repair.
This runs through several processes that may restore your connection.

Depens how do you connect sometimes the isp is failing or it fails for a period of time
check the signal power too
