i puree it and then freeze it, then when i'm ready to give it to my son, i throw it in the fridge over night to thaw it out. i notice that there's something black on top of the pureed banana. is there something that i'm doing wrong?

bananas turn black in dark areas. it should be fine. i would just puree what you need right then.

No, fresh banana goes dark when it's left out. Especially after freezing and thawing. There's nothing wrong with it. The stuff in the jars only looks the way it does because the baby food companies put preservatives in it.

I always just made it at the time I was going to use it. I mashed the banana up with a fork and if I needed to thin it, I hand expressed a little breastmilk into the bowl and stirred it up. If baby wasn't going to need the whole banana, I'd only mash about half of it and ate the other half myself.

banana is ready to eat fruit its good when he need it take out mash it and give him u can add little milk or yogurt but donot freeze tyhen thaw u r taking the nutrition away from it

A little lemon juice before freezing might keep it from turning black, same with apples.

it is just the banana. i would not puree it. just smash it up in the bowl when you baby wants it.
