Report on hieroglyphics?

I'm writing a report on hieroglyphics for school. It has to be 3 pages long. I've gotten to almost 2 1/2 pages. I need to stretch out some more- what do I do?

Get more information to put in your paper.

I can't really help you unless I had your paper to read, but here are some ideas.

Talk about their history, or where they're found. In what era of history were they used? Did the alphabet evolve from something else, or did it change into something else? why did knowledge of what they meant from knowledge for so long?

Create/include a diagram explaining how the heiroglyphics correspond to the English alphabet, or give an example of heiroglyphics.

Talk about the discovery and translation of the Rosetta Stone-- "Soon after the end of the fourth century AD, when hieroglyphs had gone out of use, the knowledge of how to read and write them disappeared. In the early years of the nineteenth century, some 1400 years later, scholars were able to use the Greek inscription on this stone as the key to decipher them. " (the british museum web page)... It's really interesting and you could EASILY find half a page on it--I could probably write a 5-page report just about the Rosetta Stone.

Or you could write a nice conclusion to the paper, stating why they're so interesting, etc. A good guideline for a conclusion is : 1) sum up your whole paper in just one sentence or two. You dont need to restate the whole, thing, that's boring. Just cut to the meat of it. 2) propose some little interesting idea or point out some little fact that you hadn't mentioned before. Make it little so you don't have to explain or support it too much. 3) make it end with some sort of bang or emotional impact. That always improves the quality of your paper.
