I like the Disney Pop Century hotel if you are on a budget - www.itunestravel.com shows great video reviews for free

Personally, I like staying onsite at Disney. It is very convenient and you are able to come and go to the parks as you please. It is fast and easy. You will pay a little more to stay onsite than offsite, but I feel it is well worth the extra money. Plus, you can get the Disney Dining Plan which will save you quite a bit of money on food (you can't get this off site) and Disney will often have really great discount codes. Right now they have the free upgrade on tickets, giving you park hopping and the water park option for free. I've also seen promotions for free dining, discounted rooms, etc. from Disney if you stay on site. So if you are able to get a promotion your onsite stay will average down a lot and may end up being about the same rate as an offsite resort.

As far as where to stay onsite, the values are the least expensive, then the moderates, deluxes and villas go up quite a bit. Personally, I feel that Pop Century is the best of the value resorts. It is newer, better transportation, etc. than the All Star resorts. The rooms, food courts, etc. are all about the same, but Pop offers a few little extras that makes it a little better, I feel.

As far as offsite, I really don't have any advice there. I've only stayed in other hotels when I was on business and I wouldn't put them in a budget category. If you stay offsite, just do a lot of research (TripAdvisor is good) for reviews and everything so you don't get into anything not so great.

Good luck!

The All Star resorts are the cheapest of the resort hotels. Personally I like the Port Orleans Riverside hotel the best however it is in the moderate range and is more expensive then the All Star resorts.

I would suggest going to the Disney website and looking at each hotel they offer. You might find that spending a little more money will give you want you are looking for.

Good luck

The Disney All Star and Pop Century Resorts are the least expensive Walt Disney World Resorts. They are known as Disney's value hotels. Right now, Disney is offering special deals for these hotels where a family can stay for about $82 a night.

Here is another current promotion:
Current Promotion: Valid through Feb 18th

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/special/offerDetail?id=07_Q3PackageOfferPage&hbx.hrf=http%3A//desktop.disneylinks.com

FREE Park Hopper® and Water Park Fun & More Options when you purchase this Magic Your Way package for 6 Nights and 7 Days!
$561 per adult based on adult double occupancy.
Prices valid most nights 4/15/07-6/2/07 in a standard room. Add a child (ages 3-9) for $186 when occupying room with adult.
The number of packages available at this rate is limited. Tickets must be used within 14 days of first use.

You can save even more money if you stay off Disney property. I highly recommend the Best Western Lakeside, located off Hwy 192 (hwy marker #4) in Kissimmee. They have nice rooms (which can be ajoining if you have a large party), several sparkling pools, a decent buffet-style restaurant, miniature golf course, arcade, and its only minutes from the Disney World Resort. Rooms can be as cheap as $59 a night in the off-peak season.
Another great option is the Lake Suites, also located off Hwy 192 in Kissimmee. These are condo-style hotel rooms complete with a full kitchen! This is recommended to save you money. Purchase food at a local grocery store (there is also a super wal mart and super target on the same hwy 192) and cook most of your meals, rather than paying a lot for them.

It depends on what you like. Any of the Value resorts on the grounds for WDW are pretty cool. There is the All-Star Sports, with every wing of the resort in a different sports theme. The All-Star Music, which has each wing decorated in different music themes. The All-Star Movies resort, which is my personal favorite for the value resorts, is more geared towards kids, with each wing decorated in a different Disney movie theme. Then there is the Pop Century, which has it's own, fad-type themes (like a giant Big Wheel, rubik's cube, etc.) All of them are value, all of them give you the same incredible Disney customer service. The only drawback is they are pretty popular, and usually pretty crowded. The best advantage is that you are staying on the grounds. Staying on the grounds is the ONLY way to go to Disney, since you get perks that the other hotels don't.

The Disney All-Star Resorts or The Disney Pop Century Resorts. (I prefer Disney's All-Star Movie or Music Resorts.) They run about $82 a night, cheaper than the rest of the resorts. They have nice features too. Like pools and a food court. Good luck with planning your trip!
