"Prior to the attack, Admiral Yamamoto turns a Japanese calendar to Sunday December 7 to make note of the date of the operation. In reality, when the attack started at 6:37 am Hawaii time, it was 1:37 am on Monday December 8 in Japan. The date December 7 was used because it is noted by Americans as the date of the attack. The Japanese version shows Yamamoto making note of the December 8 as the operation date."

Six months later, June 3, 1942, Japanese bombers from carriers in the North Pacific attacked an Alaska town.

It was December 7, 1941. The Japanese couldn't have been preparing on the 8th of December because then it was all over.

Don't depend on movies for historical accuracy--in Titanic, for example, Kate Winslett gives Leonardo Di Caprio a Roosevelt head dime, when in 1912 there was no such coin in circulation.

The date in Honolulu was December 7, Tokyo is west of the International Date Line and it was December 8th there. The difference is due to Time Zones. Finally, unless it is a documentary, NEVER trust a movie to deliver historical fact!!!! Read "At Dawn We Slept" by Gordon Prange, or if you MUST watch a movie about Pearl Harbor, "Tora, Tora, Tora" comes closest to explaining it correctly.

December 7th, 1941. The difference of time zones led to the attack reaching the Japanese one day later, on the 8th.
